Sobriety Rebuilt: Rebuilding Lives

About Us

What is our purpose here? Our purpose is to share our ESH (Experience, Strength, and Hope with each other that we together might be able to keep the vicious cycle of addiction at bay against ourselves. We are recovering from addictions of all kinds, and know that it takes all of us to be able to keep that vicious cycle at bay. We know that addiction is a powerful problem for many and we also know that there are solutions to that problem.

My name is Vic and I am a recovering addict of sorts. The reason that I say of sorts because I suffer from what they call a disease of addiction and I can get addicted to anything that I touch or even my thoughts. It doesn't have to be drugs that I touch either, it can be anything from staying on the computer too long to eating to cover up my feelings, to even not doing any thing at all. Some might not think of it as a disease and that is OK. The point is to know that we have a problem and than we are than able to face whatever that problem is and find a life to live without the use of drugs (alcohol is a drug). Thanks to the Program that was freely given to me I haven't had to use since May 25, 2006 and for that I am eternally grateful.

My problem started at childhood when I was sexually molested at the age of 5 and that kept me into living a life that was nothing but right. It wasn't my fault that I was molested. I took what was said almost to the grave until I was finally willing to open up that door and to take a honest look at the past. It was than that I finally was able to feel compassion for that inner child of mine which than gave me the ability to put down the dope One Day At A Time and Just For Today! I am grateful for the for the people that gave me what they had in order to get my life back together.

Sobriety Rebuilt and it's name says exactly what it means. We are rebuilding our lives and it has taken some of us more times to start over again on a path of recovery. Relapse isn't a requirement but it has been a part of my journey. As for many of us the shame really isn't in the relapse but the shame would be to give up and not keep trying to do this deal. For me I had to finally say that I was insane when it came to the dope, the lifestyle, and everything else that went with it, and a lot of that also had to do with the sexual behavior in which the drugs takes so many of us. That is a reason that I say I can get addicted to anything. And that is for me and for many of us the first step is to finally become honest as to where and what is going on.

So if you have found yourself here, give yourself a break. Join us on our Forums and let us all join together to beat this vicious cycle of addiction. We need each other for support and to help each of us to learn how to live a different life. Thanks for being here and helping me to stay clean for another day!
